Dr. Richard E. Ames is
the founder of Northshore Eye
Care. He was born and raised in
Oshkosh and graduated from
Oshkosh High. He began his
college education at UW-Oshkosh
and completed his Bachelor of
Science and Doctor of Optometry
degrees at the Illinois College
of Optometry in Chicago.
Since graduating in 1972, Dr.
Ames has continued to stay on
top of the most current
treatments and technology
available for his patients. Dr.
Ames specializes in contact
lenses, including the latest
silicone hydrogels which provide
the eye with more oxygen than
ever before.
Dr. Ames is the last Charter
Member of the Southwest Oshkosh
Rotary and continues to work
hard for the Oshkosh community. He
is also a member of the American
Optometric Association,
Wisconsin Optometric
Association, and the InfantSEE
Program. Every year he
volunteers for the Special
Olympics. |

Dr. Ryan P. Ames was born
and raised in Oshkosh. He
graduated from North High and
attended Drake University where
he received his BS in Biology
with a minor in Chemistry and
Philosophy. While completing his
undergraduate degree, he
performed parasitology research,
which was later published, with
Des Moines Osteopathic Medical
School.
Next, he was accepted in the
optometric program at the
Illinois College of Optometry.
Along with his regular studies,
he was a teaching assistant for
the ophthalmic optics course. He
also received membership into
the Gold Key Honors Society.
This honor was awarded to less
than 10% of his graduating
class.Beyond the required
course work, he took elective
courses in advanced spectacle
prescribing, ridged gas
permeable contact lens
modifications, and therapeutic injectable medications. |

Along with comprehensive eye
care, Dr. R.P. Ames has
emphasized his practice on
specialty contact lenses,
glaucoma, and dry eye
management. Dr. Ames also enjoys
working with children and has
advanced training in pediatrics
and binocular vision.Dr. R.P.
Ames is president of the Lake
Winnebago Society of the
Wisconsin Optometric
Association, New Member Chair
for the WOA, a member of the
American Optometric Association,
provider for the InfantSEE
Program, and is the President
Elect of Oshkosh Morning Rotary.

Dr. Ruth A. Weber, an
Iowa farm native, has
practiced optometry in the Fox
Valley/Oshkosh area since
graduating from the Illinois
College of Optometry in 1989. In
1985 she received her Bachelor
of Arts Summa Cum Laude from the
Central University of Iowa with
a major in English and Biology
and a minor in Chemistry.
Prior to joining the Northshore
Eye Care team, Dr. Weber had
been an associate with
Optivision/Eye Clinic of the Fox
Valley for eleven years.
Dr. Weber
performs comprehensive eye care,
including evaluation and
treatment of eye diseases, such
as glaucoma and dry eyes, as
well as routine eye
examinations, including contact
lens fittings, pediatric care,
and diabetic eye exams. She also
provides ocular surgical
co-management of cataract and
LASIK patients. |

Dr. Weber has been active in
professional and community
service. From 2003-2008 she
served as president of the Lake
Winnebago Optometric Society and
on the Wisconsin Optometric
Association Board of Directors.
She was also a member of the
Wisconsin Optometric Association
education committee for four
years and membership committee
for three years, serving as
chairman for 2008. In 2007 she
organized the first annual
Spa/Continuing Education
Wisconsin Optometric Association
Event, which she continued to
chair through 2009. She also
provides InfantSee examinations
and has volunteered at the
Special Olympics Opening Eyes
events. Since 2009 Dr. Weber has
served as a parish council
member at St. Mary's Parish in
Omro.
Since 1998 Dr. Weber has lived
in the rural Omro area with her
husband Don Weber, a
self-employed flooring
installer, and their daughters,
Kati and Emma. She enjoys
gardening, scrap booking, and
riding ATV's with her family and
friends in her spare time. |
